Why we refuse to review a game we didn't really play

September 25, 2026 · Mikael Sørensen

There's a temptation in this hobby to write up a game after thirty minutes. The screenshots are pretty, the opening is polished, and a hot take gets clicks. We decided early on not to do that.

Most mobile games save their real character for later. A tower defence title might feel generic until wave twenty introduces an enemy that breaks all your habits. A strategy game might click only after you lose a map and understand why.

So we set a rule: no review until someone on the team has played enough to have a genuine opinion, not just a vibe. Sometimes that means a game sits unfinished for weeks while we wait to feel strongly about it.

It makes us slower than some sites. We're fine with that. We'd rather publish one review we stand behind than five we'd quietly regret.

If that means you trust our scores a little more, then the extra hours were worth it.
